Questions to Ask Your Spirit Guides

Last updated: November 2026 · Published by Soulpiphany

Ask your spirit guides questions you genuinely want answered, one at a time, and then follow up with why, how, and what they suggest.

Soulpiphany’s founder, Cindy Anderson (known as Seer), says the useful part of spirit guide communication goes beyond a yes or no. It is being able to ask the next question, so you can work through a decision instead of being left with an answer you do not know what to do with.

What questions should I ask my spirit guides?

Start with a real decision or situation in your life. Ask one clear question, notice the response, then ask a follow-up that deepens it. Through all of it, the decision remains yours.

Real decision stories shared by Soulpiphany's founder

These stories come from Seer's article Can Spirit Guides Help Me Make Life Decisions? They are her own accounts, not promises of a particular outcome.

Moving back to Florida

Living in Seattle and helping her father, Seer asked her guides about timing. The guidance was that it was time to go. She made the decision first; afterward, a new friendship formed on a cruise gave her a place to stay in Cape Coral while she searched for a home.

Valerie changes jobs

A client who had wanted to leave her job for a couple of years asked her guide and received an emphatic HELL YES. A few weeks later she left, found a new position she was very pleased with, and her only regret was not doing it sooner.

Guidance she did not want

Seer's guide told her to interact with 100 people who could meaningfully impact the trajectory of her business. The suggestion that followed was podcasts, despite her being camera-shy. She followed it.

Questions to hold more loosely

Identity questions like a guide's name or type are fine to ask, but they work best once you can already recognize communication. Read how to connect with your spirit guides for first contact, and how to tell your guide from your own thoughts before treating a first answer as settled.

Common questions

What questions should I ask my spirit guides?

Ask questions you genuinely want answered, one at a time, then follow up with why, how, and what do you suggest. Soulpiphany’s founder says the useful part goes beyond a yes or no; it is being able to ask the next question. On Day 5 of the Challenge, students ask their own real question.

Can spirit guides help me make life decisions?

Soulpiphany’s founder says yes, in her experience. She has consulted her guides about moving across the country, business decisions, and getting on camera. The useful part is asking follow-up questions such as why and how. The decision, and what you do next, always remain yours.

What do my spirit guides want me to know?

Only a conversation with your own guide can answer that, which is why Soulpiphany centers on direct, two-way communication. Generic messages from lists or readings are easy to project onto. When you can ask a defined question and a follow-up, you find out what your guide is actually saying rather than guessing.

Do I need to know my guide's name?

No. A name can be meaningful, but it is not the same as a relationship. Soulpiphany suggests asking a more useful question first: can we communicate? Some students learn a name later. One student, Sandy, learned her guide’s name not long after finishing the Call Your Guide Challenge.

What to offer your spirit guide?

Soulpiphany does not teach offerings as a requirement. Its view is that communicating with your Spirit Guides should not require years of study or esoteric rituals. What helps most is your attention: choosing a time to open a conversation, being present, and following through on what you learn. Some traditions use offerings, so practice what fits your beliefs.
